Transport Exchange Group (TEG) is a leading provider of managed freight exchange services for the domestic road transport industry. They operate two of the UK’s largest freight exchanges, Haulage Exchange and Courier Exchange, offering a digital marketplace for matching supply and demand, compliance solutions, real-time visibility, and embedded finance services for the road transport sector.

In 2021 TEG reached out to Distinctly to help build the backlink profile of their ‘Road Transport Price Index’ page, their monthly flagship report. Distinctly would drive highly relevant and quality links to their site in order to increase TEG’s online visibility, through a structured and repeatable link-building strategy.

The team at Distinctly took on sole responsibility for the production of each month’s Index report, which they would promote to press accordingly in order to generate high-authority links.

What we delivered Open Tabbed Content

Distinctly took full ownership of the onsite content production, which consisted of a unique long-form report each month, complete with visuals and data presentations. The team would conduct industry research to offer relevant and timely insights alongside the index’s monthly findings. Distinctly would then upload the content to TEG’s site, and promote via email marketing to subscribers.

To generate links to the page, Distinctly would produce an accompanying press release containing a link to the report, which would then be promoted to journalists via targeted email outreach. This format of working was replicated each month, each time producing a new onsite report and press release with the latest internal data provided by TEG.

Over the course of our collaboration, we secured a total of 422 pieces of coverage from sites with an average domain rating of 43. These results ranged from logistics and supply chain publications to business, retail, sustainability and national outlets. Gaining continued coverage of the report in relevant publications led to TEG’s Road Transport Price Index being featured in the UK Government’s Competition and Markets Authority Road Fuel Review, earning a link from a high authority ‘.gov’ domain with a domain rating of 93.

Notably, across the duration of our collaboration the Index gained coverage through natural pickup. As a result of the consistent promotion of TEG’s flagship report, the Index became an established source in the industry which resulted in high-authority sites providing linked coverage of their own accord.
