About the client and the brief Open Tabbed Content

e-Magnets, part of Bunting Magnetics, are a B2B and B2C industrial magnet supplier based in the UK and operating globally. They have one of the largest magnet ranges in the market and provide an end-to-end service, from consultancy through to delivery, to help businesses in all sectors with magnet-based solutions. 

Distinctly began working with e-Magnets in May 2023 to improve organic visibility and rankings in what is a competitive market. Our core focus area was the neodymium range, but our scope covered the whole site and also included developing new pages where we uncovered significant opportunities for expansion. 

Throughout our strategy, we focused on technical SEO to ensure the site was foundationally secure, before doubling down on eCommerce SEO and content writing services to bring our keyword targeting and optimisation up to scratch.

What we delivered Open Tabbed Content

The bulk of our work involved core foundational SEO and content, covering the following: 

  • Keyword research to improve targeting of key pages.
  • Optimised internal linking to leverage key pages.
  • Copy improvements for key product and category pages to improve both ranking and conversion.
  • New page development based on search volume and competitor research, leading to the creation of new sector pages.
  • Blog content strategy to build topical authority.

Much of the content on the e-Magnets site was very technical and not optimised with SEO best practices in mind. Following foundational keyword research, this was one of our first ports of call, ensuring readability and content structure was both user and search engine-friendly. We also worked on internal linking within this content, ensuring our key product categories and products were well clustered together, and that any topical blog content was also linked to relevant commercial pages.

Beyond improving current content, we also used keyword research and content gap analysis to uncover areas where our competitors were ranking and we were not, and took advantage of that opportunity to build traffic and surpass our key competitors. From this came a brand new industries section, where we focused more on the B2B market and showcased our work across a variety of sectors such as Aerospace, Automotive and Medical.

Finally, we also built topical authority to the site by developing long form blog content which we used to link through to our commercial pages and other relevant blogs. This created topical clusters and helped to show our expertise in Google as an authority within the magnet niche. 

The results Open Tabbed Content

The results shown by e-Magnets are a testament to strong foundational SEO done at scale. By improving keyword targeting, internal linking and copy, as well as identifying new keyword opportunities, we were able to skyrocket our organic traffic over the course of the year. We also solidified strong organic rankings for the key neodymium section. The results speak for themselves:

  • 35% increase in organic traffic YoY
  • 108% increase in top 10 keywords
  • 250% increase in top 3 keywords
  • Share of Search doubled for key neodymium category
  • Organic traffic to the neodymium category page increased by 115%

As shown by the visibility index graph above, this led to a clear increase in our overall visibility, and significant ground across the entire market after a long period of stagnation. 

We also consolidated our dominance over the neodymium category, taking share of voice away from key competitors.
