Bachem is a leading, innovation-driven company specialising in the development and manufacture of peptides and oligonucleotides. With more than 50 years of experience, Bachem provides products for research, clinical development and commercial application to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Distinctly began working with Bachem in 2021 with the objective of boosting Bachem’s website authority by building links from relevant and authoritative websites.
With an extensive catalogue of onsite content and an established online presence within the pharma space, the collaboration provided a springboard for Distinctly to capitalise on Bachem’s standing in the industry.
Following Bachem’s need to accelerate organic growth further, we extended our service to include SEO, providing a well-rounded organic package. The scope of our SEO strategy covered the whole site, including the shop subdomain, but focused on priority pages, such as the commercial service pages. Along with increasing organic visibility and driving more traffic to the site, Bachem wanted to improve the general user experience, ensuring the conversion journey was seamless.
The team proposed link-building via article promotion, resource link-building and traditional link building techniques, to target high authority and relevant industry sites and publications.
We employed alternating link building techniques each month, ensuring consistent results. We performed regular backlink audits to identify broken and redirected link opportunities,
Using Bachem’s linkable assets – their online calculators – we applied resource link building to generate links from university subject and laboratory pages.
Thirdly, we rewrote and outreached thought leadership articles from Bachem’s onsite content as part of our regular strategy, ensuring new content for promotion every other month.
From an SEO perspective, we began by focusing on the foundational tasks. Firstly, we carried out comprehensive keyword research for all key pages on the site. We then used this research to produce optimised metadata to help improve the targeting of these pages and boost our rankings.
Alongside this, we produced benefit-led content for all service pages, helping to increase engagement time and drive more conversions. Within this new content, we added optimised internal links, creating “topical clusters” of related service pages and informational blogs. Aside from commercial content, we produced an informational content strategy to target top-of-the-funnel users, driving brand awareness whilst showcasing industry expertise.
As a result, we’ve seen organic traffic and conversions massively increase:
- Our share of voice for peptide keywords has increased by 31.5%
- Organic traffic to priority pages has increased by 118% YoY
- Organic conversions have increased by 69% YoY
- 100 position #1 and #2 ranks achieved in the past 10 months
- Organic traffic to the shop subdomain priority pages has increased by 688% YoY
- Engagement time on the oligonucleotide page increased by 212% MoM after adding new content
- Link-building activity has generated 278 links and pieces of coverage
- Average DR of our link and article placements increased from DR 46 to DR 58
- Notable results include 16 links from universities, and a current total of 62 links and pieces of coverage of DR 70 and above
- We’ve generated coverage of Bachem’s thought leadership in leading publications such as Healthcare Digital, The Medicine Maker and Biospectrum Asia.
