The Google Display Network contains a vast range of websites that are available to target with image banner based advertising. The purpose of this type of advertising is to increase brand awareness, by targeting users in the early stages of their research.
These websites and the people using them are categorised and therefore targeted in several ways:
Category | Example Targeting |
Keywords | Websites that contain pages with particular keywords, e.g. ‘DIY’ |
Topics | Websites that are categorised as a whole, e.g. interior decor, home improvement |
Placements | Specific websites available from a long list, e.g. youtube.com, ebay.co.uk |
Affinity Audiences | People who have certain interests, e.g. home decor enthusiasts, thrill seekers, dog lovers |
In-Market Audiences | People who are in the market for a particular product/service. e.g. “interior design services” |
In addition to the above targeting methods, you can also filter audiences by demographic on the Google Display Network. These include:
- Age
- Gender
- Parental Status
- Household Income
