How does it work?
The Amazon advertising platform works on a similar basis to Google; it uses cost-per-click (CPC) pricing which ensures that you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. This traffic is then directed to the Amazon platform (not your website) from where the customer buys your products. In addition to the advertising cost, Amazon also takes a small commission.
There are three different campaign types:
- Amazon sponsored brand ads -these are keyword-based and include your logo, custom headline and up to 3 products
- Amazon sponsored product ads – these are also keyword-based and appear in search results and product detail pages
- Amazon sponsored display ads – these allow you to advertise your products by targeting similar products/categories/interest groups, which is an effective way to bid on your competitors’ products
