Katana is a cloud inventory management software that helps small and mid-sized businesses manage their end-to-end manufacturing operations and inventory management. Katana supports businesses in the following industries to optimise their workflows: apparel and footwear, industrial machinery and equipment, electronics and food and beverage.
Katana reached out to Distinctly to help build its link profile with quality links from reputable sites as well as elevate their online visibility through a well-considered and executed link-building strategy.
The team at Distinctly proposed the following strategies: Reactive PR as well as converting non-linking brand mentions.
The objective was to drive relevant, high-authority links, utilising Katana’s blog, free tools and eBooks where possible.
Distinctly conducted an ‘Outreachable Content Audit’ that analysed Katana’s existing content for newsjacking opportunities. Topics spanning digital transformation, manufacturing strategies and green manufacturing, to name a few, meant we were well-positioned to leverage these insights when a story in the media started to gain momentum.
The content was positioned and authored by James Humphreys, a specialist at Katana ERP manufacturing. Attributing each blog post to an expert at Katana, before pitching the stories to journalists, meant that the insights were more likely to generate interest and engagement. Knowing from the early stages that the insights had been shared from a reputable source and an expert on the subject made link placements more successful.
We also conducted a competitor research task, alongside our brand mention reclamation, identifying broken competitor links and then recommending Katana as a suitable replacement option. This activity meant that Katana’s competitors were removed from the site we approached and replaced with a link back to Katana instead.
We were able to secure a total of 13 links and 3 pieces of coverage from sites with an average domain authority of 39. These results ranged from manufacturing and engineering outlets to logistics, business and textiles. The results we were able to secure resulted in 51.K estimated coverage views. We were also able to replace competitor links from Acumatica and TradeGecko with links back to Katana.
