Taking site traffic and conversions to new highs with technical SEO, link building and blog content

engage education

Founded in 2008, Engage Education is an international education recruitment service with partner schools and offices across the UK and around the world.

The brief

Having previously invested in SEO, Engage Education approached Distinctly as they began the development of a new website. They were looking for a brand new strategy that could deliver consistent traffic growth whilst expanding into new international territories – but not at the cost of the UK side of the site.

The aim was to drive candidates from Canada, Australia, Ireland and across the UK to the website. International SEO is a particularly complex area to operate in, so lots of planning and developer liaison was required upfront.

What we delivered

Working closely with Engage Education’s web developer, Distinctly ensured that the new site was built with SEO best practices as a key priority.

As well as continuous technical improvements to the site’s structure, we produced “search-led” blog content and engaged in some top-tier link building campaigns which resulted in a huge number of authoritative links, including from over 40 government and university websites.

Combined, the content and link building services boosted the client’s levels of expertise, authority and trust (EAT) in the eyes of Google – which then enabled us to rank higher for our main  key search terms.

The other piece in the puzzle was the early adoption of the Google Jobs platform, which to this day sends a large amount of traffic and candidates to the Engage website. By adding Schema Markup to the relevant jobs pages on the site, we encourage Google to pull these jobs through to the platform and the top of the SERP as below.

This is especially useful as the teaching jobs market is dominated by powerful jobs boards and government sites, making it tough to rank as consistently high as we would like. Taking advantage of the Google Jobs platform has helped a lot in terms of getting Engage jobs in front of the right people.

The result

Over the 18 months that we have been working with Engage Education, their website has seen consistent growth – with 5 of the last 6 months alone generating new highs in site traffic and conversions. The site has also now grown to target 7 countries.

The blog content has also enabled us to gain numerous featured snippets on Google, such as these:

What the client thought…

“Distinctly’s support with our website expansion, brand strategy and implementing our vacancies on the Google Jobs platform has been second to none. They’ve helped our business grow into new international territories, create high-quality leads for our sales team and the returns on our new websites have had outstanding feedback from the board.

“The Head of Talent Acquisition at Engage Education is extremely pleased, not only with the quantity of the inbound leads coming through, but also with the quality. In 2018, our website generated 1070 leads for our global sales team, compared to 2019, [from January to September alone] where it generated more than double!

“The search-led blog strategies that Distinctly formulated have helped us break into new areas of our sector and gain authority from prospective candidates, clients and competitors alike!

“I’m really excited to continue working with Distinctly and am extremely confident they’ll be able to help us achieve our business goals.”
