Research from Ahrefs shows that AI results appear in up to 44% of science-related searches, significantly higher than the 20.5% cross-industry average, with similarly high rates in ‘health’ (43%) and ‘pets and animals’ (37%). This shift means brands in these sectors need a clear AI visibility strategy. Building on existing research from Ahrefs and SEMrush, our Industry AI Visibility Index study explores how digital PR activity can directly influence and improve a brand’s presence in AI-driven search results.
How does the AI visibility index work?
Whether you work in marketing, PR, or SEO, this ‘map’ helps identify which publications give your brand the greatest visibility boost across AI platforms versus those that deliver more traditional PR value. We created this index to show how that balance works in practice. Not every target publication will deliver both outcomes equally, and in some cases it makes sense to prioritise one clear objective over the other.
