It is fair to say that the team at Distinctly have never been ones to shy away from social gatherings, but Wednesday evening saw a whole new level of socialising, bonding and friendly competition, and all over a spot of pitch and putt…
Not just any pitch and putt though, the team made their first trip to Topgolf, Watford on Wednesday evening to play two rounds of adventure golf, accompanied by what was described as the ‘high point’ of the night, the delicious food and drinks.
The team was split into three groups, each varying in ranges of ability, and we were then distributed throughout our selected hitting bays for the evening. Each team was allocated 20 balls per round, which meant we were able to get plenty of practice grasping that ‘club to ball connection’. The end of the first round saw Jack Goldsmith take the lead in his team with a solid score of 99, Tom Shurville stole first place in his team with a score of 100 and Matt Finch led the third team with a high score of 83.
After an entertaining first round, we sat down to a well-deserved meal. At this point we were able to discuss some embarrassing antics such as numerous attempts at hitting the ball and some more impressive moments such as hitting the golf ball collector whilst in full motion!
Once we had come to the end of our food and drinks break we started the second round of our golfing battle. Returning back to the hitting bays with full stomachs and considerably more confidence, it was encouraging to see the individual scores rocket from each team member. When I asked Jack Goldsmith, one of Distinctly’s SEO executives what it took to excel in Topgolf, he replied: “Composure, execution and dedication”. Sound advice.
As we came to the end of our final round of golf we were delighted that we had all seen a remarkable improvement in performance compared to the start of our evening. It was collectively agreed that Topgolf was a great activity to do to get everyone out of the office socialising together.
Jonathan Sealy, PPC Executive, said: “It was a really fun and good activity to go out and do. It certainly boosts team morale”.
See you next time Topgolf!
