Cameron Sykes has joined Distinctly’s SEO team as a Senior SEO Strategist. Keen to know more about him? We thought we’d ask him a few questions…
Tell us a bit about your career to date?
When I finished my degree, I began working in traditional marketing, but that was until I discovered digital marketing. After learning the basics of SEO, I soon made the move agency-side and began my career in search marketing.
I began working primarily on link building and content campaigns, and then found an interest in technical SEO and focused a lot of my time and learnings on that aspect. In the last few years, I’ve worked on honing my technical skills across a broad range of brands.
What gives you the most satisfaction from a project?
The most satisfying moment is when you’re able to make a real difference to a company and the people behind it. Helping lesser-known brands compete against the big names can be really challenging, but when it pays off, and you can see the impact you’ve made, it’s a good feeling!
What are you looking forward to most about joining Distinctly?
The Distinctly team are dynamic and highly driven, and I’m looking forward to getting involved with such a strong agency.
Do you have a go-to industry resource?
I don’t have a single top resource, but for SEO, Twitter is a great source of insights and industry updates. It can be a bit noisy and contradictory, but if you follow the right people, you can learn from the best.
And lastly, what SEO trends are you watching in 2021?
I’ll be keeping a keen eye on how SERPs continue to develop and how this has the potential to impact organic search. From the blending of search ads into organic results to the continual rise of no-click searches, it’s more important than ever to understand your landscape.
Oh, and I’m very interested in seeing the impact that organic Google Shopping listings have on e-commerce SEO!
